These two cottages in the village of Draycott, near Cheddar, have their own delightful characteristics. They are ideally located in the heart of this beautiful area of Somerset with Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole, Wells and historic Glastonbury nearby. There is good walking on the Mendip Hills whilst Weston-Super-Mare and Burnham-on-Sea, both popular resorts with sandy beaches, are just 15 miles. Shop and pub within 500 yds of both cottages.

Children, dogs and other pets are welcome.

Martindale Cottage

Established for seventeen years, Martindale Cottage has a 3-star English Tourist Board (ETB) rating and is situated in a quiet lane near the centre of Draycott village. The village shop is only 200 yards away. Our home is just along the footpath if you should need anything and open country is within five minutes walk in any direction.  This cottage is very popular with many repeat bookings.

Dairy Barn

Dairy Barn is a larger, newly renovated stone barn which will have a 4-star English Tourist Board (ETB) rating.  It is situated in The Street, adjacent to our house in another quiet lane in the centre of Draycott village. The village shop is only 75 yards away.

THE VILLAGE

On the A371 adjoining the Mendip Hills and Somerset Levels, Draycott is central to Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole and the cathedral city of Wells. It is the centre of the English strawberry growing region and fruit is available from March to November. There are two pubs, post office/shop, school, church, village hall and recreation field in the village.

THE AREA

On a bus route and in walking country on the West Mendip Way, other local facilities available are sailing, fishing, cycling, riding, golf, nature and bird watching, gliding and caving. Within easy reach, for a half or full day visit, are the seaside towns of Weston-super-Mare and Burnham-on-Sea, historic Glastonbury and the cities of Bath and Bristol which offer excellent shopping as well as many tourist attractions. There are many events in the area throughout the year.

THE COTTAGE

An open plan ground floor with inglenook fireplace and beamed ceilings comprises living space, dining area and fitted modern kitchen with electric cooker and fridge with icebox. Upstairs there is a bathroom with shower over bath and razor point; single bedroom with 3ft. wide bunk beds; large double bedroom with space for folding bed and/or cot. All beds with sheets and duvets. Outside there is a porch, utility room, small patio and one parking space.
